All work happens locally. Disconnect from the internet after loading and it still works.

Verified result

Every cleaned file is re-scanned, and we show exactly what was found. Your original file is never changed.

Limits apply: pixels are re-encoded, so JPEG files are recompressed, and hidden data inside pixels (such as steganography or watermarks) is not removed. Read how it works.

What is EXIF data, and why remove it?

EXIF is a block of information that cameras and phones write into a photo. It can include the exact GPS position where the picture was taken, the device make and model, the editing software, and the date and time to the second. Anyone who receives the original file can read it.

Metadata Photo To Info can find

  • GPS latitude, longitude, altitude and direction
  • Camera and phone make, model, lens and serial numbers
  • Capture, creation and modification timestamps
  • Software, author, copyright and owner fields
  • Embedded thumbnails and XMP, IPTC or maker note data

When it matters

Remove metadata before you sell an item online, post a photo of your home, share pictures of children, send documents as images, or publish work as a journalist or researcher. Many social networks strip some tags, but messaging apps, email and file sharing often do not.
