How It Works
1. Validate
Each file's first bytes are checked against JPEG, PNG and WebP signatures, so renamed or malformed files are rejected.
2. Audit
ExifReader reads EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and PNG text tags. Sensitive fields are highlighted amber, location fields red.
3. Clean
The image is decoded, applying its orientation, drawn to a canvas and re-exported in the same format. Metadata blocks are not copied. Your original file is never modified; a new file named name_clean.jpg is created.
4. Verify
The cleaned file is scanned again and the report shows any tag still detected. You can double-check it in any other EXIF viewer.
Limitations
JPEG output is recompressed (quality 95), so file size and tiny pixel values change. Embedded colour profiles are dropped. Data hidden in pixels is untouched. Does the file leave your browser? No: see privacy. More answers in the FAQ.
